We were trying to work out something to do for my sisters Hen's that didn't involve to much as we both have 3 little ones and when a nights stay at the Pan Pacific came up for $199 it was perfect.
The High Tea is held in Origins Restaurant in the Pan Pacific Hotel (corner Adelaide tce and Hill st Perth) on Sunday afternoons from 3-5pm for $39pp.
It overlooks the hotel pool area, it's not a large restaurant so nice and cosy and the staff are fantastic.
When we arrived there were 3 other groups there, a 50th birthday celebration and the others looked like groups of friends getting together. We were seated near the middle of the restaurant but if you book ahead maybe ask for the side overlooking the pool.
We decided on some bubbly (Moet), which isn't included in the price, seeing as we were celebrating. They soon bought out the first plate including butternut pumpkin soup with coconut foam, Warm smoked scallop, crushed pea, pork crackling and Duck confit pithivier on spiced cabbage. The soup was delicious, I could've gladly had a bowl of that!
• Smoked salmon & cucumber mini bagels
• Roasted vegetable & goat’s cheese finger sandwiches
• Spinach & cumquat tart
• WA king prawns, dipping sauce
• Warm scones, jam, cream
• Carrot cake
• Sable chocolate & orange cake
• Lemon verbena tart
The prawns were lovely and fresh, the tart was a nice surprise with the sweetness from the cumquat and of course the cakes were all a hit!
There is a huge selection of Twinings teas to choose from including 3 green teas, chai and more.
My sister and I only have our youngest ones with us (both 1) so didn't really get to see how the kids would do with a High Tea though the 2 little ones were spoilt with extra strawberries.
It was a fantastic afternoon spent chatting and enjoying food, the only let down was that the tea I asked for never arrived. None of us ate dinner that night!
I think I could see myself trying High Tea again and again as it was so much fun!
